Bike Hackers at Wired.com

Wired Magazine has a photo feature on their website about "Bike Hackers." Check out these inventive rides...

How many times have you seen some sketchy bum riding his Norco with one hand and towing his shopping cart of empties with the other? (For those of you who don't live in Vancouver... this is an everyday sight here.) Problem solved... The ultimate (empty) beer bike:

Live near some traintracks? Don't mind risking a horrible disfiguring injury? Well here is the ride for you...

The "Soul Cycle" is tandem that doubles as a mobile sound-studio. One person can drive while the other belts out some karaoke. Boombastic!

2008 Tour de France Route Announced

The 2008 Tour route is official and can be seen here in all its multimedia glory.

Some new twists and turns for everyones favorite soap-opera-on-wheels:

  • For the first time since 1988 - there will be no Prologue.
  • There are no time bonuses given out for Sprint & Stage wins.
This should make for an interesting opening week. Will a sprinter take the first Maillot Jaune? Or perhaps a determined break-away will upset the strongmen... Without bonus time how can one capture the jersey if everyone has the same time?

Did you know... the winner of the the opening (non-prologue) stage in 1988 was Canadian Steve Bauer (eh)?

Bicycle iPod Charger

How many times have you been out for a long ride and your crappy iPod battery dies after 1/2 an hour? Well, this enterprising European has the solution - turn an old dynamo bike-light into an on-the-go iPod charger. Don't know how cool it'll look on my road bike, but smart for commuters.

DIY info here.

Moto-Trials

Not pedal powered - but this guy has some crazy trials moves. One of the best youtube videos I've ever seen.
